It’s official, Xiaomi is the king of affordable smartphones. The mobile giant just confirmed the official status of it’s Redmi Note 2 smartphone which sports the currently high-end topmost Mediatek processor, the Helio x10 chipset, and guess the price? Just 125USD (799 yuan). Devices running MediaTek’s Helio X10 chipset are known to cost at least twice the price of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, example include another top smartphone Meizu MX5, HTC One M9 and even a family of Huawei P8.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5″ with the signature Xiaomi design language, with offerings of various color options. The device would have two variants, a 16GB and 32GB versions. The 32GB version is expected to be a bit more expensive than the 16GB, with an official MSRP of 999 yuan or $155, and will bfeature a higher clockspeed.
Other impressive features of the Redmi Note 2 include; 2GB of RAM, a powerful 3,060mAh battery which should give you a high 24 hours of hectic usage, Android 5.0 Lollipop and some great photographic properties with a 13MP rear shooter as it’s main camera, and a 5MP front shooter for selfies.
Availability of the device is expected soonest with the first orders being expected to be made available tomorrow – August 14th in China. There’s somewhat of a bad news though, the Redmi Note 2 will officially be sold in China only (at least initially), while India should be next in line, following Xiaomi’s gallant entrance to the huge sub-continent where it now ‘makes phones’. Other European, American and African countries would be expected to
import via 3rd party sites.
